Wu-rhyme cleaves the chaos; Yin-voice crowns the sky.
Gervana proudly presents Wuyin
In the psychedelic realm of fuzz, Wuyin takes the Big Muff as its foundation yet breaks free from the shackles of mere replication. Engineer Mr. G plays circuitry like strings, striking original melodies atop classic resonance. Expect endless combinations of modes and wider adjustment ranges—so every pick attack becomes a brand-new narrative for tone.
I. Beyond a Clone: a New Chapter in Fuzz
Wuyin is not a simple Big Muff compilation; it’s a conversation between heritage and invention. It keeps the thick, iconic fuzz DNA while an original circuit design expands the control boundaries. With a more open parameter space than the originals, you can both summon the creamy “wall of sound” from classic records and sculpt a signature voice of your own—an artisan-crafted tone palette from Mr. G where tradition and innovation dance across the knobs.
II. The Knob Symphony: Multidimensional Control
Global Command: balancing level and impedance
Volume & Balance — the duo that keeps things in check. Volume is your master helm for overall loudness and fuzz drive, letting explosive bite and fine detail coexist. Balance is the impedance magician, simulating different input impedances for tonal shifts. Turn it clockwise and highs and gain recede, making Wuyin happy anywhere in your chain. No need to obey the old rule that “fuzz must go first”—Wuyin finds harmony wherever you place it.
Gain & Filtering: shaping the fuzz fabric
Sustain, Filter & Mode — a three-part tone sculptor. Sustain is the soul of gain; clockwise adds stacked saturation, and sustain congeals into a viscous wave in the air. Filter is a precise band-sieve: • Up engages a low-cut, clearing excess lows so humbuckers stay tight and intelligible—great for taming over-compression. • Down restores the full low end, delivering a plush, compressed fuzz as thick as velvet.
Mode then opens three distinct stages:
Big Muff mode: compression like deep-sea undercurrents, rounded upper mids, and sustain as syrupy as melted honey.
Gervana Original mode: compression steps back; clean and fuzz interweave, the soundstage gains definition, and the mids sparkle—thick yet articulate.
Vintage Vox mode: a nod to the Tone Bender MkIII with a silicon-edged bite; compression holds latent tension, mids are neatly carved, and the tone cuts air like a blade. (Note: When Sustain is fully off, Mode is temporarily disabled.)
Light & Shade: high frequencies and stylistic voicings
Tone & Voice — partners across time. Tone is your brightness palette: clockwise, the upper mids break like dawn, gaining incisive presence. Turn fully counter-clockwise to trigger Tone Bypass—the EQ is taken out of the way and the raw fuzz opens up, pure and affecting. Voice is a time machine with three Muff classics:
Up: the ’90s Russian Green Muff—gentle mid scoop, earthy low-end heft, vintage-warm compression.
Middle: the late-’70s Big Muff Pi—golden-ratio balance, vocal mids, punch and penetration.
Down: the 1969 Triangle Muff—leaner low-mids, lighthouse upper-mids, the earliest psychedelic edge reborn. (Note: When Tone is fully off, Voice is temporarily disabled.)
III. Form & Spirit: a modern take on Chinese aesthetics
Wu Yin
Continuing the Heavenly Stems & Earthly Branches series, Wuyin’s enclosure reads like frozen verse. Traditional Chinese motifs flow into modern industrial design so that every line sits like a musical phrase. The new dispersed LED indicators glint like starlight on strings—both status cues and visual accents. Even the faceplate hides functional wit, making every stomp a ritual where heritage meets modernity.
This is a meeting across time: when the soul of classic fuzz collides with the poise of Eastern design, Wuyin is no longer just a pedal—it’s a tangible poem of sound.
